Lecture Series - Faythe Levine
Faythe Levine, Assistant Curator, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, will be discussing "The Unseen Ways Community Makes Art Happen"
The lecture will touch on the notion of community. How is community formed, nurtured and what inspiration and access can surface from it? Kiki Smith (b.1954) grew up in New Jersey. Her father, the famous sculptor, Tony Smith, and her mother, the actress, and singer Jane Lawrence, often entertained Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman and others.
Levine will make personal connections to the contemporary artists drawing parallels between generations and the importance of human connection and the types of spaces in which creativity is cultivated.
