Keltie Ferris
American, b. 1977
Keltie Ferris is known for large-scale canvases covered with layers of spray paint and hand-painted geometric fields. His pixilated backgrounds and atmospheric foregrounds create perceptual depth and complications of perceived spatial relationships, inviting multidimensional readings of his work. Characterized by a continuously expanding investigation into the parameters of contemporary painting, his practice considers a multiplanar site for constructed light and shifting space.
Virginia Overton
American, b. 1971
Virginia Overton’s work comprises installation and sculpture, rooted in an intuitive mode of site specificity. Her installations are often performative, creating dramatic yet minimal interventions within architectural and outdoor sites. Overton’s practice frequently includes reframing works for durational shifts or changing site conditions, creating unexpected iterations that expand upon the initial forms.
Untitled (Late Bloomer Covered)
is a collaborative, custom-painted protective Winter covering for Overton’s Untitled (Late Bloomer). For Keltie Ferris’s first 3D painting he dynamically layered marks and color fields onto multiple planes in space, applying pigment with the cover in position on the sculpture, as well as painting onto the fabric in shifting orientations and configurations on the ground. In real time, Ferris and Overton’s response to the gravitational pull of the site, surfaces, silhouettes, shapes and the surrounding space coalesce into a 3D collaborative painting in the round. It functions as color-spectrum “pop-up book” in monumental form: a playful, dynamic seasonal transformation for the public exhibit.
